Open Razor Shave Training
Until a few decades ago men regularly would visit the baber's shop daily for their shave.
Shaving was performed with an open razor known as a cut-throat razor. Shaving at home with this method was difficult, time consuming and uncomfortable. Therefore having this daily ritual performed at the barbershop was pleasent and relaxing with a lot less discomfort.
The intrduction of the safety razor at the turn of the 20th century made shaving at home much easier. More and more men started shaving themselves at home. Demand for a shave at the barbershop declined leading to a fear that the art of shaving was being lost.
